Faw Insurance Agency has been serving customers for nearly a century. Our agency traces its roots back to 1924 when our founder, C. C. Faw, began his client-centric legacy. His commitment was to provide all customers with the best insurance value and service while maintaining the highest ethical standards and credibility with our clients, carriers, and community. These principles are still adhered to by the current agency partners.
Claude C Faw II joined the agency in 1945, just after World War II ended. He placed a strong emphasis on customer service and technical mastery of the insurance products we sell.
D. Howard Murphy established Atlas Insurance Agency. Mr. Murphy, a man remembered for his impeccable integrity and honesty, later asked his son, Les Murphy, to take over the business and continue their outstanding reputation in the community.
Frelon Broome left Field Insurance Agency and, with Mr. Field’s blessing, established Frelon Broome Insurance Agency. A few years later, Frelon’s son, Bob, joined the agency, and together, they built an agency founded on honesty, integrity, and pride in a job well done.
Claude C Faw, III joined the agency in 1975 after graduating from UNC – Chapel Hill. Claude continued to build on his grandfather’s and father’s well-laid Independent Agency foundation by strengthening the diversity of the agency. We now offer a broad range of Commercial lines, Personal lines, Life, Health, and comprehensive benefits solutions to clients throughout North Carolina.
The Frelon Broome Agency joined together with two other local family-owned agencies, Associated Insurance Agency operated by Clarence and Rick Roberts and Hickory Insurance Service run by Bob Zorn and his wife. Thus, Broome Associated Insurance Agency was born.
Bethlehem Insurance Agency, run by Gary Lail, merged with Broome Associated Insurance Agency.
Les Murphy and Bob Broome agreed to join forces by merging Atlas Insurance Agency and Broome Associated Insurance Agency, which further strengthened the organization.
We committed to strengthen our market presence and customer focus by partnering with Keystone Insurers Group in 2004. The Keystone partnership provides us with resources of one of the nation’s largest privately held insurance agencies to deliver exceptional products and services with a local touch.
Morrow Insurance Agency of Hickory, which was founded by David Neal, joined Broome Associated Insurance Agency. David continues to work for our agency to this day. Also, in the fall of 2004, Fidelity Insurance Service of Hickory, which was established by Charles J. Asp, joined the Broome Team. Chuck has since retired from the insurance business and is well remembered for his dedication to his clients.
The Faw Agency purchased the Sentinel Insurance Agency in 2008 which was originally established in 1935 by the Absher family. William “Bill” Absher, Jr. spent much of his career in his family business. He was active in many civic groups such as the Elks Lodge, Oakwoods Country Club and the Kiwanis Club, to name a few.
The Faw Agency purchased Yadkin Valley Insurance in 2012 which further strengthened the organization’s expertise, particularly in farm insurance. Greg and Casey Billings, who are specialists in farm insurance, have grown that segment of business exponentially and taken advantage of our agencies exclusive Everett Cash Mutual contract to capture a large segment of the agribusiness market in our community.
Foothills Insurance Group merged with Broome Associated Insurance Agency in 2018. Shane Motley, the previous owner of Foothills, continues to service our community as an insurance consultant with a stronger and more specialized Broome Associates team supporting him, while also maintaining his Mortgage Broker business.
In January of 2020, the Faw Insurance Agency and Broome Associated Insurance Agency joined forces. This is by far the largest merger in the history of either agency. The agency owners strongly believe we are able to serve our clients “Better Together.” As a team, we bring the technical skills, specialization, and local service, while representing an even stronger lineup of the nation’s elite Insurance Carriers. We are now branded as Legacy Insurance Partners as our holding company, while maintaining the Faw and Broome Agency names in our local communities. Our commitment is to provide all customers with the best insurance value and service while maintaining the highest ethical standards and credibility with our clients, carriers, and community. We believe in using the risk-management process to coach our clients on the best way to protect assets. We seek to become the trusted advisor in all matters related to the insurance buying process and to bring value to our long-term business relationships.
