About Carlyn
Carlyn Carper joined the team in 2025 as a Business Insurance Account Manager at our Thacker & Brooks Insurance office. With two years of experience in the insurance industry, Carlyn has held roles as both an Account Associate and Account Manager, most recently working with a team focused on small business needs. Her diverse background equips her with a well-rounded understanding of the challenges business owners face when it comes to insurance.
What Carlyn enjoys most about her work is the opportunity to serve her clients. She thrives on educating them about the intricacies of insurance and helping them understand how different coverages apply to their specific needs. The most rewarding part of her job is being able to exceed her clients’ expectations—whether it’s binding a policy under a tight deadline, securing a premium discount, or finding a creative solution to a complex issue.
Carlyn’s educational background includes a BS in Animal Science with a minor in Chemistry from Berry College. Prior to entering the insurance industry, she worked for over a decade in the animal care field, holding various roles such as zookeeper, horseback riding instructor, farm hand, and veterinary technician. This hands-on experience honed her problem-solving skills and her ability to stay calm under pressure, traits that she carries over into her insurance career.
She holds the Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) designation, a credential that reflects her dedication to providing exceptional service and expertise to her clients.
While Carlyn has yet to carve out a specific niche in the industry, she does have a personal connection to nonprofit organizations. Her father recently retired after 25 years of leading a nonprofit, and she’s always been inspired by his passion for serving others. Carlyn finds fulfillment in working with nonprofits, she enjoys being a part of the inspiring work that they do.
In her personal life, Carlyn enjoys spending time outdoors, whether it’s hiking, camping, or exploring local trails with her dog. She also has a passion for animal health, stemming from her years as a veterinary technician, and loves to discuss anything related to animals. When she’s not busy working or adventuring outdoors, she’s planning her next trip to a state or national park.
