About Lori

Lori Alala received her BSBA with a double major in Risk Management and Insurance and Real Estate and Urban Analysis from Appalachian State University. Upon graduating from ASU, Lori began her career with a life and health insurance agency in Hickory NC. In 1996 she was named Partner and specialized in the area of employee benefits. She focused on serving her clients by developing and implementing creative benefit plan designs, finding alternate financing arrangements, ensuring dedicated customer service, and providing ACA compliance and education. In 2013, Lori sold her ownership interest and opened the Northwestern Mutual office. As a Financial Representative and Agent, she worked closely with business owners, individuals, and families to create financial security and mitigate economic risk. In 2016, she brought her talents to Broome Insurance and joined the Firm as an Equity Partner.

Lori is Life and Health, Medicare Supplement, Long Term Care, and Securities licensed. She has completed the National Association of Health Underwriters PPACA certification program and has worked closely with employer clients regarding the impact of PPACA and ongoing industry challenges. She served as the Chairman of the NCDOI Life and Health Agents Advisory Committee, past President and current Board member of the Western Piedmont Association of Health Underwriters, and also a past Board member of NCAHU. She has served as the YMCA of Catawba County Board Chief Volunteer Officer (CVO) and currently serves on the Capital Campaign Committee.  She was recognized as YMCA of Catawba Valley Volunteer of the Year and recipient of the Adrian L. Shuford Service above Self Award for the YMCA of Catawba County.  She currently serves on the Catawba County Chamber of Commerce Board, Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministries Board and a Rotarian. She is an NAHU Honor Council recipient and LPRT Soaring Eagle and has served on the Brantley Risk & Insurance Board at Appalachian State University. She is also committed to our local school system and served as the Hickory High School PTA President in 2013-14. Lori has 2 children, a son currently serving in the USMC, and a daughter. Lori enjoys running, regular exercise and activities with family and friends.
