About Paul

Paul Childress is the head of Childress Insurance in Albemarle, North Carolina, and he has over 25 years of direct experience in the insurance industry. Paul attended Albemarle High School and then went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Pfeiffer University.

In 1995, he started his career at Bear Insurance, eventually becoming a partner there and working as a partner until 2018. In August of 2018, he sold to First Bank and remained Senior Vice President there through September 2022, when he left to start Childress Insurance. He is a Certified Insurance Counselor.

What Paul enjoys most about his work in insurance is sharing information and identifying and evaluating solutions for each unique insurance situation. Paul believes strongly in creating partnerships and relationships built on trust and using a consultative approach to find the best possible option for every situation. His ultimate goal when starting Childress Insurance was to run a local business that betters the community and provides a superior service for its customers.

Having owned and operated a local agency for 20 years and then working for a bank-owned agency, Paul is uniquely dedicated to the local relationship model, and this is a big reason why Children Insurance joined Legacy Insurance Partners. Childress Insurance possesses the resources, carriers, expertise, and capability to handle all types of insurance relationships with the local control and authority to make decisions that are in the best interests of customers, employees, carriers, and the community.

Paul has been married to his wife, Brooke, for almost 30 years and has four children, Gregory, PT, Bryson, and Alex. He enjoys golf, basketball, and athletics in general, as well as spending time with family and friends and getting involved in his local community.

Paul is a member of First Lutheran Church and serves on the church council, and he is a past member of the Stanly County EDC Board, the Stanly Hospital Foundation Board, and the Stanly Community College Foundation. He is also a member of the Rotary Club and the Pfeiffer University Athletic Advisory Council.
